Don't Cry for Me Argentina!!!

hey folks

i you are all enjoying ur summer holidays even though the weather isn't that great!! i think i owe u guys a huge apology for not writing on my blog for ages and leaving u all in the dark in wat i've been upto during last 2 months!!
well i've got much to tell you, so i'm going to start about the Summer Step Orientation, which was held last month. on the 26th June a friend and i went down to farm in East Sussex for Summer Step Team Orientation for a weekend. i really had fab time meeting my team as well as meeting other friends from last year and in the past. during the weekend we attended lots of sessions, which to me kind of like a routine cos i've done it before for 3 or 4 years on a row but it was fun telling the steppers especially my friend Lisa, as it was her first time going on Step. the weather was absolutely fab but very very hot that we all ended up sweating and getting sticky!! but i wasn't a happy bunny on saturday cos at that time i didn't sleep well cos of freezing night, so i was really cranky all day and wasn't really my usual self =( anyway i had a fab weekend but wasn't too pleased about a long journey back to Portsmouth that Lisa and i took on 28th June!!
before i went away for the Orientation weekend, i did a sponsored walk to raise money for my trip to Argentina, i tell u organising it was a total shambles lol cos it was last at the last minute but it went really well plus i had a great time doing it with my friends and we had a lovely weather!! i've raised £220.10, did 5.2miles along the seafront and i'm very proud to say my poor feet suffered cos i wasn't wearing appropriate shoes lol!! thanks guys for generous donations, gifts, prayers, interest on my trip and support, i really do appreciate it alot!!
from beginning of this month and now, i've been extremely busy getting things ready to go nxt wednesday (29th July!!). there was so many things that i had to do, that at times i ended up going loony by trying to decide wat to buy, wat to bring, how many woolies i need to bring etc...plus on top of that trying to sort out my paper work i.e. passport etc...doing talks at my church, preparing for the sunnday school etc...i hate to admit this but i'm not that really organised lol always leaving things to the last minute ;) also i'm trying not to worry too much about my role as a translator for my team cos it's a huge responsbility and especialling with my hearing impairment, although there would be another girl will be sharing the role. so i would really appreciate alot if u guys can pray for us as translators that things will go smoothly but also as a team that we would gel together as a group. for our safety to and from Argentina, for the project, for our general health, that we may get well with our host and Barrio Del Viso community!!
have a great week and may the Lord Bless you =)

June News Snippet!!

hey folks

first of all, i owe u all a huge apology for not keeping u all upto date with my news from across the pond, am awfully sorry!!
there's so much has been going on during the month of June, well not that exciting or major happened lol, i mean just boring stuff!! this month i went to vote for the very first time in the General Elections cos i just wanted to see wats like but to my disappointment i found it boring and way too confusing!! i'm still looking jobs, jobs are getting hard to get by but i'm keeping myself busy by going to the gym (2 times a week), helping out with C Time and Sunday School at Cosham Baptist Church etc...am also am in a very happy mood cos all through the month of June the weather has been brillant, well apart from rain and windy on some occassions other than that i'm happy as a larry cos i get to wear skirts, flip flops and shorts :)
this weekend has been really busy for me, i was multi tasking on friday and saturday cos i was preparing sunday school and organising a sponsored walk for the afternoon, so it was pretty crazy but i managed to complete everything on time!! yesterday the sponsored went really well, there were 7 young from church accompanied me on the walk and i've raised a very good amount of money and on top of that the weather was gorgeous, Praise the Lord for that :)
on friday, a frined of mine and i will be going to Summer Step Team Orientation for the weekend, this will be the first time that well we will be meeting our team members and other teams!! so i'm really excited, nervous and aprehensive but i'm really looking forward to going to Argentina even though it will be winter there :P i would appreciate your prayers as i'll be attending the Orientation, getting things ready for going but especially as i will be meeting my team members :)

Here I come Argentina...!!

First of all i would like to apologise for long silence!!! the reason why you haven't heard from me for a long time, i was waiting to hear from Latin Link during last week but thankfully they haven't kept me waiting for much longer :)
I just recieved an email from Latin Link last thursday or was it friday? hmmm...i don't remember lol!! well anyway they told me i'll be going to a place called Barrio (shanty town) Del Viso, which is situated in a region called Pila. Barrio Del Viso is situated 40km from Buenos Aires city, Argentina. Del Viso is a lower class area with a population of around 40,000, there are many young people and fathers in the area with drug and alcohol addictions and sadly this has led to the break up of many families.
i will be going with a team of 13, which is much bigger team than my previous team from 2 years ago plus there are ranges of age which i'm really pleased about. there were 2 of the team members have already contacted me by either email or facebook, which is really great!! i haven't recieved the definite departure dates but i'm hoping to get more information sumtime this week.
right now my preparation for leaving this summer will be starting earnestly plus i'm starting to organise a fund raising event for the 19th June, so please pray for these, i woould really appreciate it :)
i'm going to tell u more about the project on my nxt entry, so keep a look out for that!!

Spring 2009 up date!!

hey folks

i trust that all of you had a wonderful weekend and enjoying God's amazing creation, Blessings and love :)
My last 2 weeks has been eventful apart from the usual routine, am still job hunting, going to the gym (still trying to go daily!!) going out with frinds etc...last week i've recieved an email from Latin Link giving ome basic details about Summer Step Team, they told me i'll be going for 4 weeks instead of 7 weeks. obiviously i'm disappointed about that but at the same time i feel God is trying to tell me something. am still waiting for more information i.e. which country i'll be going, which project i'll be doing, who will be in my team etc...
as soon i recieved the basic info from them, it go me started thinking about the possibility on extending my stay for either 3 or 4 weeks to do another project maybe in Peru or in Ecuador or in Argentina. i want to use that time really explore and find out on the wether God is really calling to serve him in S.America working with the children, which i've a huge burden and passion!! but obviously that cost me fiancialy to buy extra ticket, accommodation, food etc..if i do decide to go to Peru after i finish the project. i would really value ur prayers as i'm seeking God's will for my future ministry with children and if this really he wants me to do plus if it is that i may get support from my 2 churches 1. Strandtown Baptist, Belfast (which i'm still a member) and 2. Cosham Baptist Church, Portsmouth (which i'm currently attending!!).
i hope that all of u will have a wonderful week

God Bless :)

Pre-Easter news snippet!!

hey guys

i trust u all had a wonderful Easter holiday with you families and friends, especially celebrating Jesus rescurection and Jesus dying on the cross for our sins!!
last week i had a busy week cos i was helping out with Holiday Bible Club in my church. we had roughly about 140 children coming everyday, which was brillant!! they listened attentively to the stories of Jesus through puppet shows, drama, singing songs etc...it went really well but it was very tiring but i wouldn't change that for anything. am also pleased to see some children coming to the church with their parents last sunday but i'm hoping the children that attended Holiday Bible club will keeping going to the sunday school.
as for myself i'm doing fine, enjoying the gorgeous weather that we were having this week and last week!! am still looking for jobs, i've applied to alot of jobs but never hear from the employers apart from Portsmouth NHS hospitals, which i find kindda discouraging. please continue praying for me, which i would really appreciate it alot!!
next friday the wait will be finally be over, as i'll be receiving more information from Latin Link concerning about Summer Step Team (hopefully!!) and the preparation in going to S.America will be in full swing. i will let u know as soon as i get the information :)
have a great weekend

:) xxx
